BIG IDEA Projects
For this project, students choose how they will connect with art to create personally meaningful art projects. Students are given time, space and support as they create completely individualized artworks. Students connect with their personal interests, their culture, their concerns for the future and global issues. The outcomes are as diverse as the many different students. Growth mindset, integrity, resilience and time management are all key aspects of student success. In the end, I am always impressed with the depth of thought, creativity and aesthetic outcomes. The final pieces are all showcased in a "one night only" community Art Exhibition.

Big Idea Project 2020
THROUGH MY EYES Covid19 presented us with many challenges. One was how to continue with our annual art show - when people were not allowed to gather... Our Solution - a digital gallery! View this incredible collection of student art - all conceived and created during remote learning this Spring. As a teacher, I am proud of all my students who continued to engage in personal artistic expression during such a stressful time! https://www.artsteps.com/view/5ece984228fd6013cf5f4098 Press play to see the guided tour. For this project, students choose how they will connect with art to create personally meaningful art projects. Students are given time, space and support as they create completely individualized artworks. The final result will be a community exhibition - June 15. We started these projects in early April and right away, students demonstrated their ability to Think Big as they created Mind Maps and began their projects.
Painting on skis, constructing mixed media sculptures, shadow art and character design are just a few. Students also contemplated themes of identity, suicide prevention and environmental awareness. |
